Professor/Chair of Machine Learning, School of Computer Science & Information Technology

University College Cork (UCC) seeks a world class scientist for the role of Professor/Chair of Machine Learning. The successful candidate will report to the Head of School of Computer Science and Information Technology and work closely with the Director of the Futures in AI and Data Analytics.

Key Responsibilities - develop and lead research and teaching activities in Machine Learning, establish a significant world class research team, secure competitive research funding, supervise PhD students, publish in leading journals and conferences such as Neurips, ICML, ICLR, strengthen links with industry partners locally and internationally, take leadership roles in the school and within the university, contribute to the strategic development of the school, and represent the school at internal and external events.

As part of the appointment, the Professor/Chair will receive a start up package negotiated with the University, a reduced teaching load to allow research activities to commence, and will be subject to Garda vetting or an international police clearance as required.

Appointment details - salary will be in accordance with the Professor Salary Scale: €144,298 - €182,426 (Scale B) or €137,083 - €176,166 (Scale A), in line with public sector pay policy.
