Job Description
Computer science at Saarland University has an outstanding international reputation. With 800 researchers, more than 2.000 students from 81 nations, the Saarland Informatics Campus (SIC) is one of the leading locations for computer science in Germany and Europe. All areas of computer science are covered at five globally renowned research institutes and three collaborating university departments that offer a total of 24 academic programmes. The Department of Computer Science at Saarland University seeks to hire a Professor (W2) in Computer Science - Logic and Verification (m/f/x; Reference no.: W2669) with a max. 6-year tenure track to a permanent professorship (W3). Tenure-track professors (W2) have faculty status at Saarland University, including the right to supervise bachelor-s, master-s and PhD students. In case of outstanding performance, the position will be tenured as full professor (W3). The tenure decision is made after a maximum of 6 years. We are seeking an outstanding candidate in the area of Logic and Verification with significant contributions in one or several of the following areas: Foundations of automated and/or interactive theorem proving Development of tools for automated and/or interactive theorem proving Logic-based approaches to programming languages, security and privacy, distributed systems, and other areas of computer science Interplay between verification and machine learning, including applying verification techniques to ML and using ML to support verification The successful candidate will demonstrate a compelling research vision, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and the capacity to contribute to and collaborate within Saarland University-s internationally recognized computer science ecosystem. Accordingly, we expect both experience in and an aptitude for academic teaching and ideally some experience in acquiring external research funding. The language of instruction is English. We maintain close ties with the Max Planck Institutes for Informatics and Software Systems and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), which are located on campus and offer excellent opportunities for collaboration. The appointment will be made in accordance with the general provisions of German public sector employment law (see legal recruitment requirements in 41 Saarländisches Hochschulgesetz, current version available at ).
