Job Description

Our client, a UK and Europe based established manufacturing concern, shipping their quality product globally our client has multiple sites.

Due to ongoing expansion and diversification, an incredible opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Operational Manufacturing Manager.

Location: Bangor, Co Down
Department: Production
Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Type: Full Time Permanent - Mon - Thurs 8.30am - 5.15pm, Fri 8.30am - 1.00pm.

Salary: £55 - £60K per annum

Some degree of flexibility in working time is required.

Responsible Circa 60 production and support staff

Role Purpose

  • The Production Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing all manufacturing departments within the plant, and for ensuring all production activities carried out therein are done so in an efficient, cost-effective and timely manner to meet customer needs and expectations.
  • The role involves managing production schedules, optimising resource utilisation, maintaining quality standards and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • The Production Manager, assisted by the Production Supervisor, is responsible for leading and supervising the productions teams, monitoring key performance indicators, and for implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • The role will require close collaboration with purchasing, quality and warehouse teams also to ensure smooth operations and meet overall business objectives, whilst meeting customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Day to day responsibility for production and scheduling functions Responsibility to ensure all the H&S, Quality and Environmental standards are adhered to.
  • Effective utilisation of resources to meet production schedules in an efficient manner whilst also managing to meet customer expectations.
  • Effective management of inventory within our ERP system Reporting on KPIs and developing KPIs in line with future state objectives Implementation of lean principles within the factory in relation to continuous improvement and foster positive engagement through the ongoing development of Supervisors, Team Leaders, Operators and support personnel.
  • Promote communication within and between production departments.
  • Responsible for selection, treatment, training and performance assessment of all employees (includes all matters in relation to discipline).
  • Flexibility in relation to travel Liaise with suppliers and customers as required.
  • Any other appropriate task as required.
  • Management reserves the right to add any other reasonable duty to this job description.

Essential Criteria

  • A proven track record of successfully managing a multi-line shopfloor with a focus on driving lean initiatives and continuous improvement
  • Experience of manufacturing products under Quality Control systems such as ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Proven experience of managing and reporting on production KPIs and suggesting appropriate improvements
  • Demonstrable experience of problem solving using appropriate problem solving tools, and identifying fresh and innovative ideas
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and managing a team with specific experience of dealing with people management issues including grievance/discipline/training/recruitment and selection
  • Experience of effectively coaching and developing others, including the ability to motivate people to improve performance and meet business objectives
  • Experience of working with an ERP System Effective collaboration skills across various technical and management levels

Desirable Criteria

  • Hold a Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Business or Production Management Six Sigma qualification Knowledge of D365 system
