Job Description

Production Manager required in Newport - new facility, small team (25), but part of a growing global group.Mon-Thurs8:00am-4:30pm,Friday 7:00am-1:00pm.

We are looking for an experienced Production Manager toplan, organise, and control production activities to ensure the timely supply of best-value products to global retail and professional customers, while promoting lean manufacturing best practices to improve Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery performance.

Production Manager Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver weekly production plans within agreed cost and labour targets, using agency labour where required.
  • Lead departmental objectives and KPIs while promoting a strong safety-first culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational efficiency across production.
  • Manage and develop a multi-functional production team.
  • Support audits (H&S, ISO9001, customer/system) and ensure full compliance.
  • Support new product introductions, trials, and pre-production runs.
  • Manage labour costs, stock control, and production data via ERP (Dynamics).
  • Recommend and support capital investment projects.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all production and quality documentation.
  • Maintain high standards of GMP, housekeeping, PPE compliance, and flexibility to meet production demands.
Production Manager Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • Production Management or Supervisory experience in manufacturing (Packaging/FMCG preferred).
  • Strong people management skills with experience leading teams of 25+.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (5S, Kaizen).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Good standard of education (A-level or equivalent) and communication skills.
Desirable
  • Several years' experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • ILM/NVQ Level 3-6 or professional production management qualification.
  • Extensive lean/CI experience in Packaging or FMCG.
Key Skills
  • Strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with high attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, team-focused, and able to motivate others.
