Production Manager

DS Smith is seeking a high-performing Production Manager to lead, manage, motivate, and develop the Production Team at our Ely site. As the Production Manager, you will oversee manufacturing teams and elevate our production systems as a visible and inclusive leader. Your role involves inspiring positive change and driving efficiency within a modern, purpose-built site.

You will be fully accountable for the effective operation of the Production function, with a focus on developing a customer-focused, continuous improvement culture. Committed to manufacturing excellence, you will prioritize health and safety, quality, productivity, and process improvement, delivering significant enhancements through advanced manufacturing tools and techniques. You will work closely with the site General Manager and leadership team to achieve the site's strategy, KPIs, and sustainability goals.

Role Responsibilities:

1. Ensure the effective daily operation of the Production function and develop the team to meet the site's Production Plan in line with Divisional/Group initiatives for service excellence.
2. Drive HSER standards using Leadership in Action tools.
3. Enhance productivity by monitoring process performance to ensure delivery of the production plan.
4. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sharing information, and acting as the main liaison to provide unified service to customers.
5. Manage senior production team members, including performance and absence management.
6. Ensure adequate team coverage to support internal and external requirements.
7. Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to ensure asset reliability through adherence to planned maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

• Knowledge of the Point-of-Sale industry.
• Experience in Print, FBDC, or Assembly sectors.
• Proven management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of lean processes and experience in lean manufacturing.
• Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead teams.
• Operational management expertise.
