What you will enjoy doing
- You will lead operations across multiple sites as a key member of the Cylinders Operations Leadership Team, ensuring customer needs and business objectives are met
- You shall guarantee all site activities are performed safely and effectively, fully compliant with legislative and management system frameworks including Health and Safety at Work Act, COMAH Regulations, COSHH, and ISO standards
- You will drive an active safety agenda, engage with Branch Safety Committees, and foster a culture of zero lost time accidents and ultimately no accident book entries
- Take responsibility for implementing safety and loss control programs, ensuring high standards of housekeeping and operational discipline across all managed areas
- Furthermore, you will uphold cylinder and product quality conformity by ensuring rigorous quality control checks in line with ISO 9001 procedures and Gases Standards while delivering the highest levels of production and test shop performance across aligned locations
- Additionally, develop strong employee communications and engagement strategies to build a motivated and inclusive workforce, plan and direct maintenance activities to ensure facilities meet output and quality objectives safely and within budget, and ensure operational plant is fit for purpose through proactive maintenance and coordination with internal and external service providers
- Lead the change agenda in safety, growth, service, and quality, sharing best practices to enable replication across sites, while managing costs effectively by setting plans and budgets, actively monitoring monthly performance to achieve forecast targets and reductions
- Lastly, define and implement continuous improvement programs to deliver year on year productivity savings and meet Total Cash Fixed Cost targets, ensure customer service levels meet or exceed agreed standards in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Healthcare teams, and uphold robust asset management and documentation control procedures so that information systems accurately reflect site stock positions at all times
What makes you great
- Degree in an appropriate engineering or science discipline
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
- You have comprehensive knowledge of compressed and liquefiable gases market within the UK, strong understanding of engineering principles, gas production technologies, and pressure systems, and proven ability to ensure regulatory compliance with MHRA, PSSR, COMAH, HAZOP, and ISO standards
- You are an experienced transformational leader with talent development skills, stakeholder engagement expertise, and the ability to operate in unionised environments while driving safety leadership in hazardous gas handling and production optimisation
- You will demonstrate resilience under high pressure environments, clear and persuasive communication skills to align stakeholders with strategic goals, and strong financial acumen with experience in cost control and CAPEX case development and delivery
- Furthermore, you have a track record of implementing lean practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise plant and workforce productivity
