Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Production Engineer to join our team to provide technical support to the Operations department, aiming to improve processes and resolve technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface between Engineering and Production teams to evaluate designs for cost reduction and ease of assembly, actively participating in design reviews.
  • Provide engineering support, address production problems and shortages, and minimize delays.
  • Develop build assembly flow diagrams to support prototype assembly.
  • Create assembly procedures, build check sheets, and coordinate production engineering processes to ensure high-quality output.
  • Support Engineering with implementation of Change Requests (CRs).
  • Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and cost reduction initiatives for continuous savings.
  • Develop tooling and assist in procuring equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Assist the quality department with inspections and investigations.
  • Contribute to budget planning and monitor expenses.
  • Perform analyses to reduce downtime and outages of test and assembly equipment.
  • Implement best practices to enhance capacity, quality, and reliability, supporting continuous improvement activities.
  • Investigate problems, analyze root causes, and derive solutions.
  • Participate actively in the Continuous Improvement Team.
  • Stay updated with product specs, engineering tech, and production processes.
  • Travel as needed to assist customers with technical and production issues, ensuring satisfaction.
  • Support purchasing with supplier management and process improvements.
  • Assist in training production staff and developing workmanship standards.
  • Adhere to company procedures, policies, and uphold the company's reputation.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are followed at all times.
  • Maintain procedures as per the Quality Manual.
  • Keep the workspace clean and organized.
  • Work conscientiously and safely, considering others.
  • Reflect on and improve personal performance.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing/engineering or equivalent qualification (e.g., BTEC/City & Guilds level 2).
  • Excellent skills in reading technical drawings.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for diverse audiences.

Desirable

  • Experience in staff supervision or mentoring.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with 3D printing.
  • Knowledge of DFMA and DFMEA methodologies.
