If you have not worked as a product manage in Government before- please do not apply as your profile will not be viewed and you will not receive any feedback.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to join a well-regarded boutique consultancy that is winning significant government projects. Known for delivering personal, high-quality consulting and for being some of the best communicators and stakeholders in the field, this team prides itself on crafting meaningful, lasting impact.

The assignment is on a large-scale government health transformation programme. You'll play a key role in designing, testing, and iterating a service model that directly improves operational processes and claimant experiences.

This is not a digital product role - no developers are involved but we will need someone from a digital product manager background. Instead, the focus is on operational service design, working closely with policy, operations, data, and design colleagues so you will need to work with these types of cross functional teams closely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the case management model design from concept through delivery and iteration

  • Define and maintain a clear product vision and roadmap aligned to programme priorities

  • Manage the backlog, prioritisation, and delivery of service improvements within an agile test-and-learn environment

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (Service Design, User Research, Business Analysis, Operations, Policy)

  • Operate in a complex, cross-cutting stakeholder environment requiring excellent communication and influence

  • Provide leadership in embedding service designs that are scalable for the future

Key Requirements

  • Must have previous experience working on UK government projects as a Product Manager

  • Strong understanding of operational and service models (not just digital)

  • Proven expertise in agile delivery, backlog management, and prioritisation

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Experience in complex, policy-driven or transformational programmes

  • Ability to travel to Manchester, Newcastle, or Sunderland up to twice per month

  • Please do not apply if you are based too far from these locations, as travel is essential

Why Join?

  • Partner with a boutique consultancy with a reputation for personalised, high-quality consulting

  • Be part of a team of outstanding communicators and stakeholder managers

  • Contribute to a high-profile government programme with real-world impact

  • Earn up to £500/day (Inside IR35) on a 6-month contract

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of government transformation, service design, and stakeholder management, and who wants to shape services that make a genuine difference.
