Product Development Chemist
Posted 5 days 8 hours ago by BRB International
Do you have a passion for research and development? Are you eager to learn about the technology behind BRB's products and their applications, while providing innovative solutions to technical challenges? Read on and discover that BRB is looking for you!
As our Product Development Chemist at our business unit LAC (Lube oil Additives and Chemicals) you will not only support various research projects, but also be responsible for the operational activities and organization of the R&D lab.
You will work on both new and existing products and raw materials. You will determine the experimental approach, carry out a wide range of physical, chemical, and performance tests, collect, analyze, and report results. Throughout these processes, you will keep safety and regulatory aspects in mind and assist with the technical implementation into manufacturing. You will do this in an effective and timely manner, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
Furthermore, you will optimize, validate, and implement new and existing test methods, promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
Finally, together with the rest of the team, you will be responsible for incoming inspection of research samples, ordering chemicals and consumables, and maintaining records of equipment maintenance and calibration. It is important to balance lab organization and maintenance with project workload, while promoting a safe work environment and minimizing downtime.
Approximately 90% of your time will be spent doing hands-on research in the lab.
The Team
The team you will join is relatively small and consists of seven colleagues. It is a multicultural team, and the working language is English. In this position, you will report directly to the line manager.
Although prior experience is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement for this position. We are looking for a new colleague with the right motivation and a high level of enthusiasm, someone who is eager to learn and grow while actively contributing to BRB's development.
You have proven analytical skills and can propose creative solutions to overcome challenges. You have an eye for detail, follow procedures, and work safely and accurately. You are effective in your work and can adapt to changing circumstances. You demonstrate strong time management skills and remain focused on results without compromising on quality. You enjoy working in the lab, and contributing constructively to discussions. You also possess strong communication skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with colleagues and share your insights clearly.
What else do you bring?
- A Master's degree or equivalent in chemistry;
- Hands-on experience with synthesis, performance testing, and physical and chemical analysis in a laboratory environment;
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential;
- You live within an hour's drive of Ittervoort or elsewhere in Europe and are open to relocating.
If you enjoy working in the lab and are passionate about research, this is the perfect role for you. We offer the opportunity to learn about BRB products and their applications through extensive training and mentorship.
The acquisition by PETRONAS offers you the best of both worlds. The advantages of a large corporate organization, but the freedom to get started with your own ideas in an entrepreneurial environment. Besides the activities, we nurture your ambition.
But there's more to offer:
- A good salary matching your knowledge and skills;
- A position for 40 hours per week, 32 hours is negotiable;
- Payment of a possible bonus of a maximum of 2 monthly salaries;
- 8% holiday allowance, 29 free days a year and 2 more if you haven't been sick all year around;
- The ability to (re)purchase up to 5 additional leave days per year;
- Reimbursement of your daily travel costs, 21 cents per km with a maximum of 50 km for a single journey;
- Pension scheme with only 4% personal contribution;
- Company laptop;
- Free fruit at our offices;
- Staff outings with a little bit extra. Consider, for example, an annual company party, regular drinks and BRB treats to cake regularly for celebrating the birthdays of their employees.
