Job Description
General Job Description / Key Responsibilities
We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and motivational Procurement Team Leader to join our team in purchasing finished goods for shop fit-out and display.
Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, you will be directly responsible for managing the team of Buyers and their workload.
Key duties include, among others
- Account Buyer for assigned accounts
- MRP and Purchase Requisitions
- ERP maintenance
- Project and BAU Procurement
- RFQ's
- Supplier Chain Relationship management and performance reviews
- KPI management and improvements
- Stakeholder liaison with Design, Sales, Warehouse, and Factory
- Initial point of contact for team and stakeholder escalations
- Team development, coaching, and mentoring
Focus, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Execute Group instructions regarding Purchasing standards and practices
- Manage BAU and Projects through the Purchasing team
- Allocate workload, manage departmental capacity, and review team performance to meet goals, targets, and deadlines
- Manage stock of repeat order items via MRP
- Oversee Project Buying Management
- Manage stock of inventory held at third parties, including control and audits
- Handle RFQ's using in-house software, delegate tasks, and review returns
- Conduct kick-off meetings with internal stakeholders as required
- Negotiate prices and lead times
- Update ERP system with coding, supplier data, and price lists
- Interface with accounts payable and resolve invoice issues
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance reviews, audits, and visits
- Implement process improvements aligned with business needs
- Conduct spend analysis and proactively steer towards preferred supply chain partners
- Define, shape, and implement procurement workflow strategies
Objectives / Key Deliverables
- Manage daily operations of the team and department duties
- Monitor and manage KPIs and metrics for suppliers and the Purchasing team
- Handle raising codes, reviewing MRP, placing orders, and P2P processes
- Oversee freight and shipping costs within the UK, EU, and FE
- Manage BAU and project work allocation
- Collaborate with Goods In on inbound space constraints, delivery timing, and quality issues
- Manage subcontract MO
- Maintain MRP basic data
- Control shorts and manage inbound PO progress chasing
Key Competencies / Skills
- Relevant experience, preferably in purchasing, project management, or manufacturing environments
- Experience managing a team in a fast-paced setting
- Ideally experience in retail and shopfitting industries
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
- Knowledge of warehouse processes and inventory management is desirable
- Familiarity with production parts and manufacturing processes is advantageous
- Good numeracy and analytical skills
- Proficient in Word, Excel (including lookups), PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Experience procuring from the Far East is beneficial
- Experience in retail and shopfitting is desirable
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage and work within a small team and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Receptive to fast-moving, challenging, and expanding operations
- Ability to work under pressure calmly and maturely
- Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and creative problem-solver
- Confident and personable
