Are you an experienced Procurement Solicitor looking for a new challenge within local government?
Network Recruitment Wales is seeking a Procurement Solicitor (Grade 9) to join Cardiff Council's Resources Directorate on a temporary basis for an initial three-month assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your expertise to a respected local authority, supporting key procurement and governance functions within a professional and collaborative environment. Remote working is available for this role, providing flexibility while delivering a high standard of legal services.
What You'll Do- Provide specialist legal advice and support on procurement law, including the Procurement Act and Public Contracts Regulations.
 - Draft, review, and amend a range of contracts and agreements, including standard forms and bespoke clauses.
 - Advise on local government governance and decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with statutory and policy requirements.
 - Support colleagues across the Council in procurement and contract management matters.
 - Maintain accurate legal files and case records within the Council's legal case management systems.
 - Use DocuSign (or equivalent software) to complete and execute contracts efficiently.
 - Manage competing priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
 - Work collaboratively with internal clients, external partners, and other legal professionals.
 
- A qualified Solicitor with current professional registration.
 - Strong and demonstrable experience in procurement law, particularly under the Procurement Act and Public Contracts Regulations.
 - Proven ability to draft, negotiate, and amend contracts.
 - Sound understanding of local government law, governance, and decision-making frameworks.
 - Excellent IT literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel), online legal research tools, and legal case management systems.
 - Ability to use DocuSign or similar e-signature software.
 - Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
 - Ability to work independently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
 - Experience in construction, waste, or framework procurement is desirable but not essential.
 
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
 - Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales).
 - Enhanced DBS check and professional references.
 - Proven experience in procurement and local government law.
 - Good IT and document management skills.
