Private family gardener

We are exclusively recruiting a Head Gardener (M/F) for a private family. This position is for a private family (UHNWI) located in the region of La Côte (Lake Geneva, Vaud canton). It is a long-term opportunity, with a permanent contract at 100%, offering stability and continuity. The role involves supervising a team of five gardeners and direct reporting to the Household Manager, who has been with the family for many years. The previous Head Gardener also held this position for many years. The family is looking for a professional passionate about garden maintenance, committed to excellence, and eager to maintain the property according to the highest standards. The position is open immediately; however, the priority is to find the ideal candidate, and the notice period is not an obstacle.Main Responsibilities:- Develop and implement the annual maintenance plan for the park, in line with defined budgets- Supervise the team of gardeners and establish schedules (work, on-call, vacations)- Establish and monitor monthly and annual budgets- Ensure the maintenance of gardening equipment and machines- Manage inventory of equipment, liaise with suppliers, and oversee maintenance contracts (irrigation, sewage, machinery, and all external contributors related to the garden)- Control and validate external invoices- Ensure the cleaning and general maintenance of the property's outdoors- Mow the grass surfaces- Treatment of the lawn: sanding- Maintenance of flower beds: weeding, trimming, treatments- Maintenance of the orchard and vegetable garden- Manage irrigation and maintain the X system and pathways- Monitor tree health (trimming, if necessary)- General phytosanitary follow-up- Winterizing of plants and attending technical meetings of the parkKey Requirements:- Proven experience as a Head Gardener or in a similar role, ideally within a private family, golf course, estate, luxury hotel, or comparable environment- Proven experience in managing and supervising a small team- Good command of Swiss or European languages- Currently residing in Switzerland or continental Europe (in-person interviews required)Conditions:The position offers a very competitive salary, in line with experience and profile.
