Opportunity

Stantec are seeking an experienced principal transport planner to join our highly engaged transport planning team in our established Leeds Office as we seek to grow our presence in the North of England to cater to our expanding list of local authority and combined authority clients in the region.

This is an exciting opportunity to help grow an established and reputable business, leading a diverse portfolio of transport planning projects across the region and nationwide primarily in the public sector.

Our team have a wealth of experience and will offer support, development opportunities and excellent advice. Working collaboratively amongst multidisciplinary teams, you will deliver a wide variety of project work and practice with a broad range of clients.

As a principal transport planner you will support and lead the development and delivery of a range of high-profile transport projects, including major scheme appraisals, business cases, local and regional strategies, and monitoring & evaluation studies. You will deal directly with clients at all levels.

You will communicate and work collaboratively with project teams to provide high-quality deliverables to Stantec's clients and ensure that all documentation adheres to client and company standards and expectations.

You will also work with the leadership team to support business development in areas of transport planning.

Another key part of your role will be to mentor, guide, manage and provide technical advice to junior employees.

About you
  • You will be highly numerate with good report writing skills. You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to advise both internal and external stakeholders. You will have experience of leading the delivery of projects in areas such as transport planning, transport appraisal and transport business cases. You will have experience in developing a strong evidence base to inform and support transport investment decisions. You will have experience across a range of modes, including active travel and public transport.
  • You will have a broad understanding of current transportation trends and challenges. You will have experience of working with leaders across a range of disciplines to deliver projects and develop the business. You will have the ability to work effectively individually or as part of a project team.
  • You will ideally have some experience managing or mentoring junior staff and will either be chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant industry body (ICE, CIHT, TPS, CILT etc).
  • Your passion for developing transport solutions and delivering a first-class service to your clients will be critical to your success in this role.
