Job Description
Purpose of Job

The Principal, Talent Development plays a pivotal role in shaping the EBRD's learning, leadership, and high-potential development strategy, ensuring alignment with strategic business priorities, cultural transformation, and broader HROD initiatives. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role provides expert consultancy and partners with senior leaders across EBRD and HROD, as well as with external parties, to design and deliver high-impact learning, leadership, and talent development solutions.

This role plays a key role in strengthening leadership capability, accelerating the development of high potential talent, and building a robust future-ready talent pipeline that supports both cultural and business outcomes. In addition, it champions a culture of continuous learning, embedding development into daily practices, and leveraging innovative learning methodologies, digital tools, and experiential learning to ensure our people are equipped to navigate the evolving, complex business landscape.

This role's portfolio primarily focuses on supporting Corporate Functions the development needs, leading the enterprise-wide Business and Personal skills offering, managing the relationship with the new Managed Learning Services (MLS) provider and shaping the strategy for the LMS and digital learning platforms.

This role reports directly to the Associate Director, Talent Development.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Partner with business leaders, HR business partners, and the wider HROD teams to identify critical capability gaps through training needs analysis, shaping a cohesive development proposition for own portfolio that aligns with business priorities, culture, and workplace behaviours.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Bank's development propositions and, in response to evolving organisational needs, enhance existing or design and implement new programmes that address emerging capability gaps and strengthen talent pipelines.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to design and deliver innovative, multi-channel, high-impact development solutions, aligned with emerging technologies, diverse learner needs and the principles of the 70-20-10 model, emphasizing experiential learning (70) and social learning (20).
  • Support both the Associate Director, Talent Development and the Director, Talent & Performance Management on organisational change and broader HROD initiatives, ensuring key elements of transformation programmes are integrated into development propositions to support the organisation's goals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing insights on leadership effectiveness, talent development, and workforce transformation.
  • Conduct comprehensive demand planning and forecasting to determine required volume and type of development offerings annually, enabling forward planning, proactive staff communication, timely supplier engagement and effective budget management.
  • Deliver and debrief psychometric assessments, including Insights, to support individual and team development, enhancing self-awareness, communication, and collaboration. Facilitate other development initiatives within the portfolio, as required.
  • Conduct comprehensive annual demand planning and forecasting to determine required volume and type of development offerings within own portfolio, enabling forward planning, proactive communication, timely supplier engagement and effective budget management.
  • Be the primary account lead for the managed learning services (MLS) provider, overseeing the transition to the new vendor, establishing and maintaining effective governance, processes and procedures, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service, value for money, and continuous improvement.
  • Own and drive the strategy for all learning technologies and platforms ensuring effective use of digital tools and the learning management system (LMS).
  • Work closely with the HR Transformation team and act as the TD team lead to define requirements and configuration of the new SAP LMS, ensuring seamless integration with current systems, improving user experience and access to content, and delivering measurable impact. Be the first point of escalation for all service issues and lead on the resolution with minimal disruption to bank-wide service.
  • Lead the development agenda for HROD, procuring and/or designing tailored learning solutions to enhance the capability of HR professionals within the organisation.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for talent development initiatives across the team, ensuring clear consistent messaging across the organisation and ensuring the visibility and engagement of learning programmes among employees and senior leaders.
  • Lead the design and execution of programme evaluation frameworks to measure the effectiveness and impact of the entire talent development proposition. Leverage both strategic and operational learning data - including participation rates, course uptake, training hours, and learner feedback - to inform decisions, refine development solutions and demonstrate measurable outcomes aligned with organisational goals.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Certification in psychometric assessments (desirable depending on portfolio).
  • Accredited coaching qualification (desirable depending on portfolio).
  • Significant experience in learning, leadership development, or talent management roles within complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Proven success designing and delivering high-impact development programs across leadership, technical, and business skill areas.
    Experience designing and delivering development solutions across the full 70-20-10 spectrum, with a particular emphasis on social and experiential learning methods.
  • Experience managing external partners and suppliers to ensure quality and alignment with evolving organizational needs.
  • Experience using data and insights to inform decisions and demonstrate learning impact.

Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of learning strategy, leadership development frameworks, talent management and talent development practices, and the application of social learning approaches.
  • Familiarity with learning technologies, learning management systems (LMS), and digital learning methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to quickly learn about new topics, align to strategic priorities, and translate them into impactful development solutions.
  • Understanding of organisational and cultural change in complex, international environments.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, align diverse perspectives and drive actionable solutions in support of growth.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills, including the ability to engage executive audiences.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to design innovative, scalable solutions aligned to business needs.
  • Strong project management and change leadership skills, with the ability to deliver in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously, exercise sound judgment, and drive initiatives through to successful outcomes.
