Location: Southampton (remote with adhoc site visits)

Duration: Initial term until December '25 but potential to extend

Our client, a leading defence company, are looking for a Safety Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing safety and environmental plans
• Using safety analysis skills across the full system lifecycle from requirements identification through design, development, manufacture, system integration, acceptance testing, delivery, and disposal when required
• Undertaking assessment and analysis using techniques such as Functional Failure Analysis, system requirements, and Fault Tree Analysis to identify and validate system requirements, influence design trade-offs and architecture to reduce safety risks
• Conducting Environmental Impact Assessments ensuring products are compliant with applicable legislation
• Developing safety requirements and identifying appropriate verification and validation methods
• Constructing arguments based upon evidence gathered to support safety claims
• Presenting outcomes of safety analysis to Integrated Project Teams and customers
• Participating in incident or observation analysis as required
• Working closely with various engineering disciplines, customers, partners, and suppliers to solve complex problems and deliver safe products
• Contributing to the continual improvement of the company safety management system

Job Requirements:

• Considerable experience in working as a Safety Engineer in highly regulated sectors such as Aerospace, Nuclear, and Defence
• Experience with the full system lifecycle
• Experience with all aspects of safety assessment, from Hazard Identification through to delivery of project Safety Case Reports
• Eligibility to obtain SC-level security clearance
