Principal Highways & Drainage Engineer

We are currently looking for a Principal Highways & Drainage Engineer to join an expert team in Central London. The team has extensive experience managing large and complex projects, which is reflected in their work.

The role

• Influence the outcomes of highway and drainage infrastructure projects by working closely with architects, clients, and stakeholders from initial feasibility through planning, detailed design, to onsite construction
• Understand the client's brief, scope technical details, prepare fee proposals, deliver solutions, and exceed client expectations
• Project manage, mentor, and share your knowledge with team members

What you need to succeed

• Experience in commercial management, project management, and leading delivery of highway and drainage infrastructure design projects
• Knowledge of financial and contractual aspects of project planning and bidding
• Understanding of UK highway and drainage design standards, planning processes, and procedures for infrastructure projects
• Experience with highway design standards such as DMRB, Manual for Streets, and local authority standards, including procedures for S38, S278, and Public Realm projects
• Experience in drainage design, Flood Risk Assessments, and liaising with approval bodies
• Proficiency with relevant software packages
• Ability to generate repeat work through excellent performance and client relationships
• Ideally, a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, with Chartered status or nearing it (CEng, MICE, MCIHT)
