As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will play a leading role in delivering complex infrastructure projects within the energy sector. You will work across all phases of development, from feasibility studies and design through to construction monitoring and operational support. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, offering the opportunity to influence project outcomes and mentor junior engineers. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, engage directly with clients, and contribute to shaping sustainable, future-focused energy solutions.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the civil engineering aspects of energy projects from concept through to detailed design, producing drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Provide expert guidance, review design work, and resolve project challenges with practical, results-oriented solutions.
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical reports, feasibility studies, and supporting project documentation.
  • Support site activities through inspections, surveys, and construction monitoring, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, considering technical, environmental, and commercial factors.
  • Represent the organisation professionally in client engagements and contribute to business development opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 2:1), with Chartered Engineer status.
  • Strong knowledge of UK energy sector codes and standards, including Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • Proven experience in civil and structural design, ideally including foundations and structural assessments.
  • Background in energy projects, with exposure to feasibility studies, site surveys, or due diligence reviews.
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary consulting environment, delivering services across multiple project phases.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and familiarity with design tools in a BIM environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a proactive, collaborative approach.
  • Exciting, high-impact projects shaping the clean energy transition.
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression, whether as a technical expert or project leader.
  • Supportive, international, and multidisciplinary working environment.
  • Flexible and hybrid working options with office bases in London, Oxford, or Horsham.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus private medical insurance, life assurance, and pension scheme.
  • Enhanced parental leave with 16 weeks full pay for both parents, plus childcare support and return-to-work coaching.
  • Commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeing.
