Primary Graduate Teaching AssistantDo you want a full academic year in KS2 where you build proper classroom confidence while helping pupils who need extra support make steady, visible progress? Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant September 2026 until July 2027 £83 - £102 per day Large primary school, Ward of Yardley 1:1 and small group support in KS2The Role:You will work in KS2, supporting pupils who need extra input to secure key skills in reading, writing and maths. You will spend time in class helping pupils access the lesson, then deliver 1:1 and small group sessions to close gaps with tighter focus and higher repetition. Your support will stay linked to what the teacher is covering, so pupils practise the same objectives, and progress stays easy to track.You will run short intervention blocks with a consistent routine: recap the skill, model it, practise together, move to an independent attempt, then use quick checks to spot misunderstandings and set the next step. In reading, you will build fluency, vocabulary and comprehension through structured questioning and evidence-led answers. In writing, you will support sentence accuracy, spelling patterns, punctuation and editing habits. In maths, you will strengthen fluency and reasoning by breaking tasks into small steps and pushing accuracy. KS2 sits within the national curriculum, so your work will reflect the expectations pupils work toward in Years 3 to 6. Safeguarding runs through everything you do. You will follow school policy; report concerns quickly and keep professional boundaries. The Candidate:You bring calm routines, clear explanations and consistency. You take feedback well and you keep pupils focused without creating tension.
- Degree at 2:2 or above in any subject
- Strong literacy and numeracy, confident supporting KS2 reading, writing and maths
- Comfortable leading 1:1 and small group sessions with clear aims and tidy routines
- Experience with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, camps or volunteering is desirable
- Professional approach to behaviour, confidentiality and safeguarding expectations
- Enhanced DBS required, plus right to work checks, references and standard school vetting
