Primary Care Coordinator - Walk In Service

Ospadal Uibhist agus Bharraigh, Benbecula

Band 3 - £29,103-£31,409 pro rata. Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,461 pro rata. Full time and part time hours available. Fixed Term post - 31st March 2024.

The service provides same-day urgent care for temporary residents and visitors across the Western Isles, freeing capacity in GP services for local residents. It will be located in Ospadal Uibhist agus Bharraigh OUAB, Benbecula with access to onsite diagnostic facilities. The team includes Primary Care Coordinators, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and GP.

The service operates weekdays from 9am to 5:30pm, offering telephone, Near Me (video conference) and face to face appointments. Virtual appointments are available for temporary residents not located in Uist, with face to face arrangements when necessary. From November 2026, the service expands to provide walk in care for residents of North Uist, Benbecula and South Uist.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate access via nine GP practices and walk in patients, supporting the clinical team to deliver a consistently high standard of patient care.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with GP Practice Representatives and Primary Care colleagues to ensure patients receive appropriate support throughout their service journey.
