Preston Crown Court £12.86ph rising to £13.25ph Full-Time

We are currently recruiting for an Administrative Officer / Digital Jury Bundle Coordinator to join the team at Preston Crown Court.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience working within HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) in a varied role combining administrative duties with supporting the use of digital technology within court proceedings.

  • £12.86 per hour for the first 12 weeks
  • £13.25 per hour after 12 weeks
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
  • 37 hours per week
  • Fully office-based
  • Assignment running until 26 February 2027
  • Potential opportunity for extension
  • Start date: As soon as successfully cleared to start
  • Basic DBS required

About the Role

This role combines Digital Jury Bundle Coordinator responsibilities with general Administrative Officer duties.

As a Digital Jury Bundle Coordinator, you will support court trials where digital evidence systems are used instead of traditional paper files. You will help jurors use secure courtroom tablets, manage digital devices and assist with the smooth running of digital trial processes.

You will also provide essential administrative support to the court, helping to ensure that hearings and day-to-day operations run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities Digital Jury Bundle Coordinator
  • Provide clear guidance and support to jurors on using secure courtroom tablets.
  • Instruct jurors on how to access and use digital bundle hardware and software securely.
  • Issue secure PINs and manage access to devices.
  • Set up electronic exhibits and ensure digital materials are available when required.
  • Reconcile and securely manage devices at the end of each court day.
  • Monitor how effectively jurors interact with digital trial evidence.
  • Report technical faults and elevate issues where appropriate.
  • Support the smooth operation of digital evidence systems during court proceedings.
Administrative Officer
  • Prepare papers and files for courts, tribunals, hearings and meetings.
  • Produce and organise court documents.
  • Create and update records on internal systems.
  • Complete accurate data entry.
  • Draft standard letters and documents.
  • Support court and tribunal hearings and proceedings.
  • Assist court users with general queries.
  • Provide professional and helpful customer service to members of the public and other court users.
  • Carry out general administrative duties as required.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to support the smooth running of court operations.
About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organised and able to manage their workload effectively.
  • Confident using computers and digital systems.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and processes.
  • A clear and confident communicator.
  • Patient and approachable when supporting jurors and members of the public.
  • Able to follow detailed procedures and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Reliable, professional and able to work effectively in a busy environment.
  • A strong team player with a flexible approach to work.

Previous administrative or customer service experience would be beneficial. Experience working with digital systems or providing technical support would also be advantageous, although ongoing training will be provided.

Additional Information
  • Ongoing training will be provided once in post.
  • Pre-booked annual leave can be accommodated, provided it is not excessive.
  • No travel to other locations is required for training.
  • This is a fully office-based role.
  • A Basic DBS check is required.
  • A valid passport is preferred.
  • The role is subject to successful completion of all required clearance and compliance checks.
