About the role

Become part of the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years! Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Pre Construction Engineer on the Hinkley Point Project and develop with this amazing project.

About Hinkley Point C

The first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years; Hinkley Point C in Somerset will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy.

Marking a significant milestone in the revitalisation of our nuclear power industry, Hinkley Point C will make a major contribution to the UKs move to reduce carbon emissions. The electricity generated by its two EPR reactors will offset 9 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions a year.

What you'll be doing

  • Ultimately accountable to deliver Discipline Specific Construction Work Packs and
    record in AS9 the work information used to prepare installation.

  • Deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Work packs to support the MEH Alliance
    programme.

  • Identify the available Workfront for the discipline through detailed constructability
    reviews and the associated installation schedule.

  • Identify the key material needed to unlock additional installation. Request temporary devices when required (temporary supports, valves dummies ) and progress the enablers to deliver the associated Construction Work Packs.

  • Request the topographical and other surveying required to support the MEH Alliance construction works

  • Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and other MEH
    documentation. Request clarification or propose changes when required

  • Support continuous improvement programmes to improve process/procedures

  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.


Who we're looking for

  • Degree qualification or equivalent vocational training OR experience of installing
    Mechanical and Piping systems.

  • Proven track record of working in a highly regulated sector, preferably in nuclear

  • Experience working on major construction projects

  • Experienced in delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level

  • Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS or Higher)
