Posted 2 days 4 hours ago by RFCSR
The University of Manchester, Manchester, United Kingdom
General DescriptionThe University of Manchester invites applications for its postgraduate research programmes across a wide range of disciplines within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. These programmes are designed to support candidates in producing original research and contributing new knowledge within their chosen field, leading to qualifications such as PhD, MPhil, or other doctoral degrees.
Applicants are expected to undertake significant preparation before applying. This includes identifying a specific research project, Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), or developing an independent research proposal if self-funded. Candidates must contact and engage with a prospective supervisor to discuss the suitability of their research interests and align them with departmental expertise.
Applications are submitted through the University's online admissions portal. During the application process, candidates must clearly specify their intended research area, proposed project title, and supervisor(s). Applicants may list up to two supervisors and must provide detailed information regarding funding arrangements, whether funded, self funded, or supported by scholarships.
A complete application must include all required supporting documents submitted before the relevant deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. After submission, applications are processed through several stages, including acknowledgment, departmental review, and potential interviews. Applicants receive a unique University ID to track their application and communicate with admissions teams.
The application cycle typically follows a structured timeline: applications open in September, funded programmes often open between October and November, deadlines for funded positions typically fall between November and January, interviews begin from January onwards, and final deadlines vary depending on intake (January, April, or September start dates).
