Job Description
Postdoc (gn ) (Bio-)Informatics or (Neuro-)Immunology Limited to 3 years Full-time with 38,5 h/week Salary according TV-L E13 Clinic of Neurology Job ID: 10828

We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise at the Clinic of Neurology - ideally with you on board!

The Clinic focuses on inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, especially multiple sclerosis. As part of the Department of Neurology, we study the pathogenesis and treatment of this and other chronic autoimmune diseases of the nervous system.

Your Tasks

In this project, transcriptome data will be analyzed using state-of-the-art cell-based transcriptomics methods (single-cell RNAseq, single-nucleus RNAseq) and donor material from healthy individuals and multiple sclerosis patients (blood and cerebrospinal fluid/CSF), combined with T and B cell receptor sequencing from patients and healthy donors. The aim is to investigate which antigen specificities are enriched in cell subpopulations, depending on the underlying neurological disease.

The project will use high-throughput data to develop and apply cutting-edge big/deep data analysis methods, including machine learning and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will therefore have a strong background in data science and in the application and programming of algorithms. The use of programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, and C++ will be a daily part of the project, and proficiency in these languages is required. However, additional datasets will also be generated in the laboratory, so immunological techniques (cell isolation, sorting, single-cell RNA sequencing, single-nucleus RNA sequencing) are also part of the job description.

What we expect:
  • A completed PhD in (bio)informatics or (neuro)immunology
  • A completed Master's degree in biology, biomedicine, bioinformatics, or data science
  • Basic knowledge in cell culture, immunology, and molecular biology
  • Above-average proficiency in Python, R, and SQL
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • Understanding of statistics and a responsible approach to handling personal data

until 16.07.2025.
