Staff Officer - Policy & Research

A respected public sector body is seeking an interim Staff Officer to support its policy and research functions. These roles offer a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in equality, law reform, and human rights.

The Role

You'll join a collaborative team working on high-impact projects, supporting senior leadership and contributing to policy development and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft policy submissions, briefing papers, and speaking notes
• Monitor legislative and policy developments across NI, Westminster, and EU
• Support stakeholder engagement and investigations
• Review and provide feedback on draft documents
• Assist in the development of publications and public-facing materials

Ideal Candidate

• Background in Law, Policy, Research, or related disciplines
• Interest in equality law, social policy, law reform, and human rights
• Understanding of NI, UK, or EU government and legal frameworks
• Familiarity with EU law, especially in areas like disability, race, employment, and childcare
• Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills
• A proactive team player with a curious mindset

• Location: Belfast (Office-based only)
• Salary: £34,524
• Hours: 37 per week Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm
• Duration: Initial 3 months (possible extension)
