Podiatrist - HMP Whatton and HMP Gartree

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced podiatrist to join our Health in Justice (HiJ) Musculoskeletal (MSK) team, on a part time basis, at HMP Whatton - a category C men's prison in Nottinghamshire and HMP Gartree - a category B men's high security prison in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

This role is 3 sessions per month at HMP Whatton and 2 sessions a month at HMP Gartree; total number of hours are 20 hours a month.

Salary is between £40,000 - £49,000 pro rota depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As our podiatrist, you will:

Provide outstanding evidence based care, advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have complex and/or chronic presentation. You will need to determine clinical diagnosis and clinical treatment, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.

Assess and treat a range of conditions including diabetic patients, wound management, MSK pathologies and nail surgery.

Deliver non judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries. Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients' care, following our policies and procedures.

Inspire excellence in your colleagues by being pro active in the management of foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions and motivate the wider team to identify patients at high risk. Forge strong working relationships with the Practice Plus Group health care team and the wider Health in Justice Service.

Be responsible for your own caseload and waiting list and be able to work as an autonomous practitioner.

Qualifications Essential
  • HCPC registration, with proven post registration experience of assessing and treating a range of conditions
  • Experience in assessing and treating
    • Diabetic patients
    • Wound management
    • MSK pathologies
    • Nail surgery
  • You will also be self motivated with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Evidence of CPD and work within MSK speciality.
  • A non judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent IT skills in MS Word, Outlook.
  • Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience of electronic notes systems.
Desirable
  • Experience of electronic notes systems.
