Job Description

A specialist SEN school is looking for an enthusiastic PLMD TA to join their team of dedicated staff in September 2026. The role is full-time position in a fantastic school based in Skelmersdale. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs and make a real difference within a caring and inclusive school community.

The school supports pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), and complex autism needs within a welcoming and inclusive environment. This role requires an individual with previous experience working in SEND and care settings, along with a calm, patient, and empathetic approach to providing tailored support and sensory-based communication strategies.

The Role
  • Help maintain a safe and positive learning environment tailored to the pupils individual needs.
  • Assisting the pupils with personal care.
  • Support pupils with individual PLMD needs, encouraging progress in both learning, wellbeing & behavioural needs.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding, mobility, and medical needs where required.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Is caring, empathetic, and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Preferably experienced in working with PMLD, severe learning difficulties (SLD), or complex physical disabilities in an educational or care setting.
  • Works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and builds positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
Requirements
  • References covering the last 5 years
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
