Platform Engineer

Your Role
As a Platform (DevOps) Engineer you will be part of a dedicated platform team and work on a diverse array of products and systems using a variety of technologies to facilitate developer teams to deliver quality software to our customers.
You are a strong communicator and have experience with guiding change management processes. Your work consists of a variety of technical tasks including:
- Designing, building, automating, documenting, configuring, securing and monitoring of the Platform on which the APS application stack is hosted.
- Technical discussions and observations working alongside other disciplines within the business.
- Integration of systems, including third-party ones, into the Platform.
The working week is full time (40 hours) and it's about getting the job done.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitation of Development and Operations (3rd line Tech Services) to work faster, better, and more reliable. Faster: build light and only necessary features. Better: have short feedback loops to ensure higher quality. More reliable: design and implement robust solutions as part of our Platform.
- Manage and automate standard features on top of the Platform provided through a self-service platform (IDP - Internal Developer Platform)
- Deliver and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Write Infrastructure as Code to deliver infrastructure as reusable building blocks
- Provide observability as a feature for development, operations and business
- Ensure proper backup and restore capabilities and Disaster Recovery solutions for the platform
- Continuous Assessments - Feedback and Monitoring of the Platform, systems built upon it and analysis of this to mark and work on areas for improvement
- Working with / integrating with other services and platforms
- Investigation and analysis into new solutions, tools and processes to determine feasibility / viability within the Platform
- Guidance on / working with best practices and industry standards
- Continual improvement (self and team) via ensuring constant research & training in newer technology

- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Gitlab, and Terraform/Terragrunt
- Automation tooling expertise

- Pipelines and programming/scripting skills
- Background and interest in emerging technologies and methodologies
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Drive to document your work correctly
- Knowledge of:
- Software development processes

- Basic information security & security standards (NIST, ISO27001, CVE)
