Senior Backend Engineer

Amsterdam (Hybrid - 2 days/week)

We're working with a startup building the AI-native operating system for CFOs, structured workflows, real-time finance data, and AI agents that help companies make faster, smarter decisions.

They're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join early and help architect, build, and scale the platform from the ground up.

This is a backend engineering role, focused on APIs, data flows, and system design, not ops.

But if you write code with performance, scalability, and deployment in mind, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable backend services in TypeScript (Node.js)
• Create APIs and integrations that power real-time, AI-driven workflows
• Build event-driven systems with queues, messaging, and data sync
• Shape system architecture from an early stage (without legacy baggage)
• Collaborate with product, infra, and AI/data teams to ship features fast
• Think in systems: security, observability, performance, clean abstractions

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems,TypeScript/Node preferred
• You've worked on real-world products that needed to scale and evolve fast
• You care about system design - clean APIs, maintainable services, clear boundaries
• Comfortable with cloud environments (GCP ideal, AWS/Azure fine too)
• Bonus: you've used Pulumi, Terraform, or CDK, or just like infra as code
• You enjoy working in fast-moving teams where you can own big chunks of the codebase
