The Flexible Energy Steam & Biomass Fleet is looking for a Plant Manager (d/f/m) for Uniper's City Plants in the Netherlands!
Your responsibilities
City Plants supplies heat to three cities, Rotterdam, Leiden and The Hague, via business-to-business agreements with two customers. The electricity produced in three CHP assets is sold into the Dutch powermarket. The business also includes 11 boiler / pumping stations. All assets are currently fired with natural gas or oil. There is an aligned ambition with the customers, cities and Uniper to transition to green fuels / heatsources in the coming years. As Plant Manager of the City Plants, you are responsible for the safe, compliant, efficient, sustainable, and profitable operations of Uniper's assets in the Netherlands. You are leading the City Plant organization in playing a strategic role in the Dutch and European energy transition, delivering security of supply to protect European economies and their countries' wellbeing. You are also shaping the plant's future towards sustainable energy solutions by feeding and enabling various other functional areas within Uniper to further develop the site. This way, you contribute to positively tackling climate change and thereby helping to deliver Uniper's carbon neutrality ambition.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the site organization and business of the City Plants by defining its vision, strategy, and direction in conjunction with other functional areas in Uniper, and in alignment with the overarching Flexible Energy Fleet Steam & Biomass Fleet objectives
Responsibility for safe, compliant, reliable and economical operations in accordance with internal and external requirements such as applicable laws and legal obligations, safety regulations, environmental requirements, licenses and permits
Exemplary occupational safety performance through proactive action and promotion of a continuously improving culture in the areas of occupational health and safety, plant and process safety, physical and cyber security, and environmental protection
Collaboration with all relevant Uniper functions, particularly the Flexible Energy Steam & Biomass fleet, the Green Power & Gases team, Uniper's trading business, and internal support functions
Managing local stakeholders at executive level and representing the plant organisation towards authorities, customers and grid operators, and supporting regional communication measures
Trusting cooperation with the works council and staff representatives
Ensure and developing the right skills, including leadership competence and team diversity, to best manage current and future risks and opportunities
Living the Uniper values, communicating corporate goals, implementing corporate guidelines and driving cultural change
Individual contribution to the goals of the Flexible Energy Steam & Biomass leadership team

You also have
Completed university/academic studies in engineering (or comparable experience as a plant manager), additional studies in economics or business administration are advantageous
Several years (5 or more years) of proven leadership experience in a relevant industry (energy, biochemical or oil & gas industry) combined with extensive experience in shaping and leading organizational change without losing focus on operational excellence
Comprehensive understanding of power plant operations, engineering and maintenance, ideally including experience with fuel logistics, energy trading and economics, and major outage management
Comprehensive understanding of relevant Dutch legislation and industry standards, including health, safety and environmental requirements
Proven track-record in establishing performance management systems and building operationally excellent organizations and teams
Solid financial and commercial skills
Ability to deal with unforeseen events and make decisions under pressure and uncertainty
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage performance and motivate both individuals and teams
Planning and organizational skills to effectively prioritize and manage resources with a long-term focus, including strategic management of external service providers
Strong identification with the Uniper Way and the ability to communicate the underlying value model
Fluency in English, knowledge in Dutch and German are beneficial.
