Plant Manager

This is a key operational role, reporting directly into the company owner, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a busy, fast-moving plant operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of approximately 70 items of ride-on plant and up to 500 small tools
• Organisation, scheduling, and control of plant and equipment across multiple sites
• Running and coordinating 32-tonne and 3.5-tonne plant lorries
• Managing plant logistics including deliveries, collections, servicing, and repairs
• Maintaining accurate records of plant usage, maintenance, inspections, and compliance
• Ensuring all equipment meets health & safety and statutory regulations
• Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors
• Monitoring plant costs, damage, and downtime
• Implementing systems to improve efficiency, availability, and asset control

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Plant Manager or Senior Plant Coordinator role within civil engineering, groundworks, or construction
• Strong knowledge of heavy plant, small tools, and site equipment
• Good understanding of plant compliance, LOLER, PUWER, and H&S requirements
• Organised, proactive, and able to work independently
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Full UK driving licence (HGV advantageous but not essential)
