Planning Consultant Overview

Jennings Design Limited are specialists in the design and management of commercial construction projects. We have a particular focus on Petrol Filling Station & EV, Roadside developments and Retail. Each development has different requirements including extensions building alterations, infrastructure renewal, introduction of electric vehicle charging etc. and we pride ourselves on excellence in what we do.

What we need

We're offering an exciting opportunity to establish a planning consultancy function here at Jennings Design, expanding the work we already do into a designated workstream and building new business in the area.

We're looking for a full time Planning Consultant with the following skills and experience:

  • Qualifications & Professional Memberships
  • Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related subject.
  • Chartered Membership of the RTPI (or working towards accreditation) required.
Experience
  • Strong background in managing planning applications and appeals in the UK.
  • Good understanding of national and local planning policies, legislation, and procedures.
  • Experience engaging with local authorities, developers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Track record of successful outcomes in commercial, or mixed-use developments.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent report writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret planning policy and present clear advice.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Confident communicator and negotiator, able to influence a range of stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of client needs.
Personal Attributes
  • Professional, ethical, and committed to high-quality outcomes.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Detail-oriented and resilient under pressure.
Other Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites/meetings.
