A French/American family based in Fiesole, near Florenz, Italy is looking for a French speaking rota nanny, who is also bilingual in English. Knowledge of Italian is a bonus.

The nanny will be working on a 24h basis, 2 weeks on/2 weeks off. The mother is French and speaks French and English to the children. The father is American and speaks English and Italian; he speaks English to the children. The family live in an Italian environment and Italian is also used/spoken.

The family has a residence in Fiesole, near Florenz. They also have properties in Rome and Venice. They often go to Paris and travel to Switzerland. They might travel further to the Maldives, for instance. The rota nanny will travel with them.

The family has three boys: a 7 year old who is trilingual and goes to an international school. He has his own nanny, a British lady who has been employed for the past 5 years. There is also a 3 year old who is currently at home but will go to school in September 2026. The nanny who looks after the 7 year old also looks after the 3 year old during weekdays. The rota nanny will be responsible for the 3 year old too during the weekend.

The youngest boy was born in August 2025. The family has employed a maternity nurse from the birth of the baby. She will leave end February 2026.

The rota nanny will share the room with the baby, unless the mother decides otherwise in the evening.

The prime responsibility of the rota nanny will be to look after the baby. The rota nanny will be working on a 24/24 basis. She will be sleeping at night, either with the baby or not, and will be given enough time during the day for her own personal needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide shared care for the 7 year old and 3 year old during weekdays, and for the 3 year old on weekends.
• Look after the baby, including mealtimes, bath time, sleeping, and feeding routines.
• Engage in age appropriate play and activities for the children.
• Take the children to appointments such as health clinics, doctors, or hairdressers when required.
• Ensure the children's welfare, safety, and happiness at all times while in her care and work with the mother to provide a warm, fun, and safe environment.
• Help the children with their education according to the mother's view, as she is very involved in all decisions regarding the children.
• Act as a driver for the family when needed; if not, a driver will be available.
• Wear an Italian made, made to measure uniform when at home to protect the nanny's clothing and support the baby's wellbeing.

Lodging, meals and transports are provided by the family. Return flights are covered by the family; however, the nanny must be able to book her own flights, taxis, etc., and will submit monthly expenses that will be reimbursed by the family.

The rota nanny must be self employed in France and will be responsible for her own taxes.

Qualifications

• Native French speaker who is bilingual in English.
• Holder of an EU passport or the right to work in Italy.
• Previous strong experience as a rota nanny.
• Ability to work on a 24h basis with 2 weeks on/2 weeks off.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with the mother on childcare and education.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to drive for the family if required.

A 48 hour trial will be organised before a decision to offer the position or not.
