Physics Tutor (18-24 year olds)

We're looking for enthusiastic Physics tutors to deliver engaging, curiosity-driven courses to small groups of 18-24-year-olds. You'll design and teach your own Physics curriculum across a 2-week intensive course - whether that's unravelling the mysteries of quantum mechanics, tracing the physics of black holes and spacetime, or revealing how thermodynamic processes power everything from jet engines to the humble refrigerator. You'll foster a positive environment where students feel free to question, experiment and discover that Physics stretches far beyond anything they've encountered in the classroom.

From £32 to £55 per hour

Working pattern18 hours of seminars and up to 8 hours of tutorials across 2 weeks
Teaching takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
3-4 hour preparation allowance, depending on class size
Reports to- Design and deliver your own 2-week course: Prepare and deliver six interactive and engaging 3-hour seminars to a class of up to eight students aged 18-24.
- Maintain a supportive classroom atmosphere: Create a welcoming and positive environment where students feel excited to contribute and learn from their peers.
- Foster advanced academic inquiry and independent study: Deliver intellectually rigorous sessions that encourage critical analysis and independent research, helping students deepen their subject knowledge and develop skills for postgraduate study or academic careers.
- Set challenging assignments and deliver weekly tutorials: Set demanding work that requires a high level of critical engagement, then provide personalised feedback and guidance through focused two-to-one or small group weekly tutorials.
- Write personalised reports: Compose Letters of Recommendation for your students to help them continue along their academic journey.
- Complete mandatory training: Familiarise yourself with company procedures, logistical requirements and safeguarding through our online induction.
- Stay attentive to student welfare: Monitor attendance and remain alert to student welfare and safeguarding, reporting any concerns to help keep students safe.
You're passionate about your subject and bring creativity and flexibility to lesson planning, adapting to diverse learning styles and classroom dynamics. You're committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and can succeed, and you maintain a strong awareness of safeguarding to ensure a safe and supportive learning space for all young people.
- Possess or be working toward a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- Experience teaching or working with undergraduate-level students.
- Interactive, engaging, and inclusive teaching practice.
- Friendly and professional communications with students and staff.
- Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role).
- Experience working with international students and non-native speakers.
- Experience working in academic summer schools.
- Experience designing your own syllabi and lesson plans.
