Part time 10 hours per week Phlebotomist (flexible as to when this is worked across the week).
Rainworth Surgery is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic phlebotomist to join our practice team.
Phlebotomy is an essential part of our clinical service, and we are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist who is confident in taking blood samples, managing patients effectively, and delivering high quality care.
The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced environment, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and be able to put patients at ease while maintaining professionalism at all times.

About usRainworth Surgery provides primary care services to patients in Rainworth and the surrounding areas.
We are a small, close knit team comprising 4 GPs, 3 Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant and 14 administrative staff. Our team is known for being friendly, supportive and hardworking, with a strong commitment to delivering quality patient care.
The practice is based within a Primary Care Centre and benefits from a well maintained, modern working environment. There is a large onsite car park, and the location offers easy access from Mansfield and surrounding areas.
Job responsibilitiesMAIN DUTIES
- Obtainingpatient consent for the collection of a blood sample
- Performingvenepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
- Maintainingaccurate patient records on the clinical IT system and ensuring specimens areready for onward transportation
- Thecorrect labelling, packaging and storing of samples
- Effectiveuse of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
- Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
- Maintainingeffective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff
- Workingcollaboratively with the clinical team, seeking guidance when necessary forpatient related matters
- Beingan integral part of the general practice team
- Actingas a chaperone as required
- Ensuring clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the organisations IPC Policy
- Be aware of duties and responsibilities regarding current legislation and adhereto practice policies and procedures on safeguarding adults and safeguardingchildren
- Supporting the administrative team on an as-required basis
- Undertakingall mandatory training and induction programmes
- Contributingto and embracing the spectrum of clinical governanceMaintaininga clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Good standard of general education - GCSE or equivalent
- Experience in phlebotomy
- Experience of working in a health care setting
- Understanding of infection, prevention and control measures
