Pharmacy Support Worker

We are looking for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our pharmaceutical production team within NHS Scotland Pharmaceutical 'Specials' Service (PSS). The role involves assisting with the manufacture and packing of a variety of medicines to high standards and meeting tight deadlines.

PSS provides a national service, hosted and managed by NHS Tayside, to ensure patients across the UK have access to quality unlicensed medicines that are not commercially available from licensed manufacturers or are in short supply, as well as investigative medicinal products for clinical trials. The production department operates from a purpose built, state of the art facility on the Ninewells Hospital site in Dundee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the manufacturing and packing of creams, ointments, gels, suppositories, pessaries, enemas, oral and topical liquids, eye drops, eye lotions, pre filled syringes, injections and infusions.
  • Help with medicines re packing, over labelling and assembly of emergency pouches.
  • Follow written instructions and accurately record activity for quality assurance.
  • Work as part of a team to deliver a responsive and high quality service, ensuring all medicinal products are fit for their intended use.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout employment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ability to follow written directions and maintain accurate records.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
  • Full training will be provided; prior experience in a pharmaceutical setting is not required.
  • Availability to work full time, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
