Leading Liverpool law firm Paul Crowley & Co Solicitors are looking to recruit a Trainee Solicitor to join their Personal Injury department. About the role The primary purpose of the Personal Injury Trainee Solicitor role is to support the Personal Injury Department in fee earning work while developing competence, confidence and experience across a varied caseload. You will assist with advising on a range of mixed personal injury matters under appropriate supervision and play an active role in building the Firm's PI portfolio. The role requires initiative, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with partners, colleagues and clients while committing to learning and professional development. Person Specification & Requirements: Law degree or equivalent legal qualification LPC or SQE completed or in progress Some prior experience or exposure to personal injury work would be advantageous Ability to work under supervision and follow legal instructions accurately Strong written and verbal communication skills Good organisational skills and attention to detail Professional and client focused approach Willingness to learn and develop practical legal skills Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines Confident IT skills and willingness to learn case management systems Commitment to confidentiality, GDPR and regulatory compliance Positive, collaborative approach to working within a team Genuine interest in personal injury and civil litigation work Key Responsibilities : Assist with fee-earning work under supervision and contribute towards individual and departmental targets as agreed with the Supervising Solicitor and Head of Department. Assist with the management of a mixed caseload under supervision, including but not limited to: - RTA, EL, PL - Clinical negligence - Housing Disrepair - CICA - Civil Litigation Attend and assist with client meetings, ensuring a professional service and excellent client care standards. Assist with negotiations with clients, insurers and other professionals under guidance and supervision. Attend court hearings, police stations, prisons and any other off-site visits as required, primarily in a support or observation capacity unless otherwise directed. Undertake advocacy where appropriate and permitted, under supervision and in accordance with training requirements. Draft legal documents, correspondence and court applications under supervision. Assist with preparing quotations and costs information for client work under supervision. Monitoring, actioning, and updating matters on electronic case management systems and relevant electronic portals. Research and analyse documents and case law to support advice given and the progression of matters. Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and external contacts. Keep up to date with relevant legal developments through training, supervision meetings and appropriate reading. Develop commercial awareness and assist with initiatives that contribute to the growth and development of the Firm. Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide support to junior staff where appropriate, under supervision. Adhere to the Firm's policies, processes and procedures as directed by the Head of Department and Supervising Solicitor. Undertake all required training and take responsibility for personal development in line with SRA training and qualifying requirements. Assist with maintaining compliance with Lexcel, SRA and other regulatory and quality standards. Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and client's documentation and information by complying with GDPR. Support business development and networking activities where appropriate.
