Job Description
Overview

Job Purpose: To provide the best possible care and support to ensure that the person receiving the direct payment achieves their well-being outcomes as identified in their care plan.

To support them to live as independently as possible.

Relief Direct Payment Personal Assistant Required for up to 18 hours per week hourly rate of £13.50 RELIEF About the Employer: I am an adult living independently who experienced a brain aneurysm, which has resulted in some ongoing memory difficulties.

I am motivated to maintain my independence and live a structured, fulfilling life, but I benefit from support to organise and implement daily routines.

I share my home with my 2 dogs, who are an important part of my life.

Therefore, it is essential that my Personal Assistant is comfortable around dogs and enjoys being in a home environment with pets.

I am looking for a reliable and patient Personal Assistant who can provide consistent prompting, organisation, and practical support in a respectful and encouraging way.

The role is funded through a Direct Payment arrangement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily prompts and reminders to support memory and routine
  • Assist with planning and organising daily and weekly schedules
  • Assist with medication prompts (as required, in line with care plan)
  • Support with meal planning, preparation, and maintaining a healthy diet
  • Assist with household tasks such as light cleaning, laundry, and general organisation
  • Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest
  • Accompany to appointments and social activities where required
  • Support with managing correspondence, paperwork, and simple administrative tasks
  • Encourage engagement in hobbies, interests, and community activities
  • Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during your working hours
  • Monitor wellbeing and report any concerns appropriately
  • Maintain accurate records where required
  • Provide reassurance, patience, and emotional support as needed
  • Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately on ()
  • Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
Relationships

Communication / Nature of Contacts: Ability to develop supportive and caring relationship with employer. To undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner. Able to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.

Job Working Environment

Working in employer's homes and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.

  • Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
  • Caring, patient and friendly.
  • Responsible, reliable and honest.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Has good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
  • Good time-keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer's requirements.
  • Ability to keep simple records such as time recording.
  • Good communicator able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
  • Able to develop long-term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
  • A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is likely to be required.
  • This is determined by the needs of the employer and whether you live within walking distance.
  • You must be prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours
  • Be prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employers need.

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) A Disclosure Barring Service Check (DBS) / criminal record check will require to be undertaken for this post.
