Job Description
4 Hours per week, £13.45 per hour, Llanelly.
A Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) / criminal record check will be required for this role; it will be completed upon acceptance of the offer.
Principal duties and responsibilities- Providing for the personal care needs of the employer, such as washing and toileting.
- Supporting the employer with encouragement in gaining independence.
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
- Providing support to the employer whilst shopping and attending activities of interest.
- Supporting the employer to develop independent living skills.
- Providing companionship in the employer's home, including engaging in conversation and providing them with social interaction.
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
- Ensuring the employer's safety at all times during working hours.
- Carrying out any other reasonable tasks requested by the employer during working hours.
- Ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
- Being mindful of safeguarding issues and reporting any concerns to Carmarthenshire County Council immediately at .
- Being responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
- Ability to develop a supportive and caring relationship with the employer.
- Undertake all duties in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Ability to contact people on behalf of the employer when necessary.
Working in the employer's home and supporting them to access facilities and community activities.
Person specification - Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience & Skills- Being caring, patient and friendly.
- Being responsible, reliable and honest.
- Being proactive and self motivated with the ability to work on one's own initiative.
- Having good local knowledge of the area where the employer lives.
- Keeping time records and being flexible around working patterns and duties as determined by the employer's requirements.
- Being a good communicator, able to talk to people on behalf of the employer when required.
- Being able to develop long term supportive and consistent relationships with employers.
- Having a full, clean driving licence; use of a car is likely to be required and depends on the needs of the employer and the applicant's proximity to the workplace.
- Being prepared to have business use on your vehicle insurance to use the vehicle within work hours.
- Being prepared to undergo training in order to best meet the employer's needs.
