Personal Assistant - Galashiels - 3017

I am an elderly gentleman with reduced mobility living in Galashiels who is keen to remain independent in my own home. I am looking for a friendly, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant to provide personal care support once per week.

The role focuses on providing calm, unhurried assistance with bathing to help reduce the risk of slips and falls, while allowing me to move at my own pace in a dignified and respectful way.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Support me safely in and out of the bath due to reduced mobility and balance
• I am unable to lift my leg independently to step into the bath, so patience and reassurance are essential
• Allow sufficient time for tasks to be completed at my own pace to minimise the risk of falls
• Support with washing, particularly my legs and stomach, due to skin irritation/infection
• Assistance with drying following bathing
• Support to apply prescribed creams to my legs and stomach to help prevent further skin infection
• I can dress independently; however, support should be provided as and when required
• Assist with any other small tasks I may be unable to manage before you leave

Hours of Work

• 1 hour per week
• Ideally mornings around 11am
• Day and time to be agreed with the successful applicant

The Terms

• £13.20 per hour
• Mileage negotiable
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata)
• PVG and references required
