Job Description

Situated in North Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council share services and work closely together to deliver high quality, resident focused services. We are committed to being a customer driven organisation, with communities at the heart of everything we do, and a strong focus on continuous improvement.

We are looking for a Performance & Improvement Lead to play a key role in driving improvements that deliver the priorities set out in our Council Plans, helping services achieve meaningful outcomes for residents and communities.

This role sits within our newly formed Performance & Improvement Team, which brings together performance, engagement, equalities, and improvement to drive data and evidence led change across the organisation.

You will lead cross council improvement projects, using performance insight, engagement and inclusive design to support services to improve how they deliver for residents. You will manage Improvement and Data Improvement Advisors, and work closely with senior managers to turn strategic priorities into measurable results.

The role will also make a valuable contribution to Local Government Reorganisation, supporting preparation, transition, and potential post vesting transformational projects ahead of vesting day on 1 April 2028. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the design and delivery of a new council for its communities.

We are looking for someone with strong, evidenced experience in improvement and change, who is confident working across multiple services, uses data and insight effectively, and is committed to delivering inclusive, resident focused outcomes aligned to Council priorities.

You should hold formal qualifications in change and project management methodologies, with experience of successfully applying them to deliver improvement within a public sector organisation. You will also bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

The Councils offer a range of staff benefits, including:
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Generous annual leave, starting at 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Flexible working arrangements, where appropriate
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to an employee benefits platform offering high street, leisure and holiday discounts, salary sacrifice schemes and more
