People define the strength of your business, and strong people leadership is critical to ensuring continued excellence through periods of rapid growth.

This business builds and operates battery storage and other energy infrastructure that keeps the grid stable as we rely more on wind and solar, with a substantial UK portfolio, growing operations in continental Europe, and a plan to double in size over the next few years. You'll guide them through the next phase of their growth through creating a best-in-class people and HR function with them.

As People Director, you'll be reporting straight into the CEO as part of the senior leadership team and are responsible for translating the company vision and culture into actionable people processes, which you'll develop from first principles.

Because they work across the full project lifecycle, their workforce ranges from investment and trading professionals to construction and project teams. The culture is demanding and high performing, but the leadership looks after people who deliver, and it is a low-politics environment they intend to protect as they scale.

You'll understand that excellence relies on a culture of high performance, and you'll be a custodian of this culture. You'll translate the vision of the leadership team into best-in-class recruitment, people development, and HR systems, including owning org design, HR strategy and compliance, performance management, and everything people focused.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being hands-on and building these systems themselves, with an understanding of the impact these processes have and who keeps the organisation's interests at the centre of every decision.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and run the core people systems, from recruitment and onboarding to the annual performance and reward cycle, so they are delivered on time and adopted by every leader.
• Translate the leadership team's vision for culture and performance into practical policies and leadership guidance, using data to show what is working and what needs fixing.
• Lead training and development across the business, including management capability and AI skills.
• Lead office administration and the executive assistant team and support people arrangements in new countries.

Experience & Qualifications

• Experience leading or building a people function in a scaling organisation, including designing and implementing people systems.
• Strong UK employment law knowledge and confidence with complex employee relations, knowing when to take external advice.
• A hands-on, data-led approach and a willingness to build processes yourself.
• The objectivity to act in the organisation's interest, stay above internal politics and challenge senior leaders with evidence.
• Fund, real asset, professional services and scale-up backgrounds are all welcome, and international expansion experience is a plus.
