Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well-established, multi-site organisation in Poole to recruit an experienced Payroll Officer to take responsibility for end-to-end payroll operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance, and statutory payments to join a stable and growing business.

Payroll Officer - Key ResponsibilitiesAs Payroll Officer, you will take full ownership of the payroll function, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple sites.
- Manage end-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly payroll cycles
- Process payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including overtime and variable pay
- Administer new starters, leavers, salary changes, and payroll adjustments
- Maintain accurate payroll records including tax codes, deductions, and pension contributions
- Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
- Submit FPS and EPS reports and manage year-end processes including P60s and P45s
- Process statutory payments including SSP and SMP
- Prepare payroll journals and support finance with reconciliations and year-end reporting
- Submit P11D and P11D(b) returns
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
- Support payroll system upgrades, data validation, and continuous process improvement
- Work collaboratively with HR and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy
- Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll compliance and HMRC submissions
- Experience processing statutory payments and pensions
- Advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
