About you
  • Possess at least 1 year of recent payroll processing experience in a computerised environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll procedures, tax, national insurance, and pension administration
  • Knowledge of Local Government Terms and Conditions is highly desirable
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and payroll systems
  • Demonstrates a professional, courteous approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders
What you'll do
  • Ensure timely payment of salaries, wages, and allowances to staff and elected members in accordance with relevant regulations
  • Prepare and validate payroll data, including variable hours, deductions, and statutory payments
  • Maintain accurate employee records and process all changes such as new starts, leavers, and rate adjustments
  • Manage pension records and ensure compliance with statutory guidelines
  • Handle payroll-related enquiries efficiently and professionally
  • Assist in preparing statutory returns and manage real-time information submissions to HMRC
  • Support payroll system updates, participate in process improvements, and contribute to policy documentation
  • Be ready to adapt and respond to urgent payroll matters, including error investigation and urgent payments
