This pivotal role ensures our staff are paid accurately and on time, contributing directly to the smooth running and success of our organisation.

Role Overview

As a Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and processing payroll for our employees, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies. You will work closely with HR and Finance teams to maintain accurate employee records and resolve payroll queries promptly. Your attention to detail and strong organisational skills will be key in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of payroll data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process monthly payroll for all employees accurately and within deadlines.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records including starters, leavers, changes in pay, and absences.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions and PAYE.
  • Collaborate with HR to verify new hires, contracts, and benefits affecting payroll.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee queries efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute payslips and other payroll reports.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including P60s and pension submissions.
  • Support audits and provide payroll information as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in payroll administration, preferably within the Education or public sector.
  • Sound knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC procedures, and RTI reporting.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong numerical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Relevant payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP Level 3) is desirable but not essential.
