Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pathway Coordinator to join our dynamic Renal service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic energetic individual to work in this busy department to support the delivery of a high quality secretarial/administration service. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.

Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as "Priority" and "At Risk" status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification. Main duties of the job

Working as a member of the Renal team the post holder will support the clinical team in delivering a high quality secretarial/administration service to a team of consultants and their clinical teams.

The post holder will be required to:

  • Provide secretarial cover to medical staff
  • Work effectively with the current Renal administration team
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • Proactive, takes own initiative
  • Acts in a professional manner at all times
  • Ability to deal with difficult/anxious people using tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to resolve conflicting situations
Job responsibilities

Have knowledge of the latest local and national access standards and targets relevant to the specialty.

To support the proactive management of all relevant waiting lists and target reports, ensuring that patients do not breach their target waits including 2ww patients in accordance with local and national guidelines.

Ensure that patients are proactively managed and are pulled though the administrative systems designed to support their care journey e.g. obtaining diagnostic results for review, DNAs, removal from waiting lists, expediting referrals etc.

Ensure that all data quality issues are minimised.

Action data quality and other reports as directed by the Specialty Coordinator.

Updating databases and audit management where relevant.

Ensure you follow the Trusts APN guidelines and any other standard processes within the Trust.

Ensure that all outpatient clinical sessions are booked with appropriate patients in an effective and efficient way who do not require the support of the OAC department.

Ensure correspondence received into the departments is dealt with efficiently and effectively.

Attend specialty meetings as required.

Qualifications
  • Proven NVQ level 3 in Business and Admin or equivalent or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • ECDL
Knowledge & Experience
  • The ability to work within a clinical office scenario
  • Demonstrable good levels of computer literacy
  • Proven knowledge of waiting list management
  • Proven knowledge of iPM
  • Ability to deal with difficult/anxious people using tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to resolve conflicting situations
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Knows when to seek advice
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
