Job Description
The apprentice will receive a salary in accordance with the National Minimum Wage and will gain experience and support in the workplace to complete an apprenticeship and gain qualifications in the field of public rights of way and access to the countryside.

Language Needs
- Listening and Speaking - Intermediate Level: Be able to hold a conversation on a number of diverse topics on a daily basis, and discuss cases related to the field of work. Be able to follow a discussion in Welsh, in Clear Welsh, on familiar issues relating to the job. Be able to contribute to the conversation and answer questions.
- Reading and Comprehension - Intermediate Level: Understand everyday correspondence on familiar issues at work. Understand longer reports in Clear Welsh and be able to pick up the main points.
- Writing - Intermediate Level: Be able to write specific purpose letters, emails and short reports through the medium of Welsh and English using vocabulary and simple phrases familiar to the field of work.
Purpose of the Post
- Receive experience and support in the workplace to complete an apprenticeship and gain qualifications in the field.
- The apprentice position will offer experience of working with public rights of way and access to the countryside.
Responsibility for Resources
- Equipment - Responsibility for personal equipment - laptop, phone.
Main Duties
- Support the Pathways Service by assisting with survey work, gathering information on trail condition, and assisting with practical work.
- Safely and efficiently maintain and carry out rights of way and countryside management works.
- Follow and encourage health and safety practices at work.
- Take care of vehicles, machinery, equipment and personal protective clothing.
- Conduct route surveys, keep accurate records and report on work.
- Support the implementation of rights of way and access improvement schemes.
- Assist officers and volunteers with daily tasks at sites and trails.
- Contribute to self development and take on any other reasonable duties, reporting safeguarding concerns when necessary.
- Follow the Council's policies on health and safety, equality, data protection and carbon reduction.
Special Circumstances
- Occasionally the post holder will be required to attend meetings or activities in the evenings or on weekends.
