About this job

The Pathology IT role ensures that all Pathology systems meet departmental and user requirements while maintaining seamless integration with Trust systems.

Key responsibilities include daily maintenance of major system interfaces, resolving complex technical issues, and monitoring infrastructure platforms to ensure stability and performance.

Effective communication with internal teams and external suppliers is essential, translating technical concepts for diverse audiences and supporting the specification and installation of Pathology related devices.

Development and automation are central to the role, with a focus on designing and deploying Power Platform solutions (Power Apps, Power Automate) to streamline workflows.

The position also involves creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards for actionable insights, automating data flows between LIMS, Trust systems, and external platforms using APIs, and ensuring compliance with NHS data governance and security standards.

Additionally, SQL-based development, SSIS for ETL processes, and SSRS for advanced reporting are key components for managing and presenting data effectively.

Data management responsibilities include extracting, validating, and transforming complex datasets, monitoring data integrity, and producing regular and ad-hoc reports for clinical and operational teams.

Advanced analytics tasks involve applying predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical techniques to Pathology data, developing algorithms for forecasting and anomaly detection, and integrating outputs into dashboards using tools like Python or R. As a site lead, the role acts as the primary IT contact for one BCPS site, coordinating local IT support, representing the site in BCPS-wide projects, and ensuring effective communication with the central Pathology IT team.

Additionally, the position requires active engagement in Trust-wide digital transformation projects, collaborating with technical teams for solution integration, and providing clear communication and training to non-technical stakeholders.
