Job Summary

PA/Support Workers - Dundonald.

Posts: 3 positions available.

Working Hours
  • 4 24 hrs per 4 weeks (part time)
  • 3 24 hrs per 4 weeks (part time)
  • 7 24 hrs per 4 weeks (full time)
Rate of Pay

£13.45 per hour for all hours worked.

Qualifications

Previous experience or training in working with young adults with extra support needs is desirable but not essential. A clean driver's licence and the ability to drive a car to transport the young man are essential. Flexibility to be part of a good working team is required.

Responsibilities

The main duties are to support a 28 year old male with extra support needs, including:

  • Provide personal care as required and administer and keep medication records.
  • Assist with socialising and take the young person to various activities in his own car.
  • Support the man who has mobility issues and uses a wheelchair.
Personal Tasks
  • Assistance with taking medication, showering, bathing, drying, using toilet and, if necessary, changing pads.
  • Assistance with eating and drinking, cutting up food, and preparing liquidised meals.
  • Assistance with shaving, dressing, oral hygiene, foot care, drying and hair styling.
Household Tasks
  • Prepare meals, sandwiches and drinks.
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, mop floors, and clean the bathroom, bedroom and other areas.
  • Handle laundry and ironing, change bedding and maintain staff room bedding.
  • Dust and hoover.
General Tasks
  • Assist with shopping at local stores.
  • Report any faults with equipment to family.
  • Perform light household maintenance such as changing light bulbs and using ladders.
Social Activities and Outings
  • Accompany to cinema, theatre, swimming, disco nights, club events, appointments, shops, meetings with friends/family and general leisure activities.
  • Drive the young man; staff must hold a full clean driving licence.
  • May be required to accompany the young man on paid holiday.
  • Wages paid weekly in arrears by BACS transfer.
Employment Conditions
  • 5.6 weeks paid annual leave.
  • 6 month probationary period with 1 week notice during probation if the role is not a good fit.
  • New PVG Disclosure or updated Disclosure required; employer will pay the fee (£18/£59) but the cost may be recouped if employment ends within the probation period.
  • Submission of driving licence, car insurance (including business insurance) if using own car, two up to date reference contacts (one from current or most recent employer) is required.
