Academics are seeking a compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join our dedicated team in a SEN specialist school in Gloucester of children age 5-16. The successful Pastoral Support Worker candidate will play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, personal development, and academic engagement of young individuals outside of the classroom to ensure the children can reach their full potential in the classroom. We offer a supportive and collaborative working environment where ongoing training and professional development opportunities to really make an impact in the children's lives.
Responsibilities- Provide mental, emotional and social support to students.
- Work closely with teachers, parents and guardians, and external agencies like CAMHS to ensure the best outcomes for young people.
- Nurture students in overcoming barriers to learning, including attendance, social connections and behaviour challenges.
- Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions focused on resilience, confidence and positive behaviour.
- Ensure the safety and welfare of students, working on safeguarding practices.
- Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, counselling, or previous support role.
- Strong communication.
- A calm, empathetic approach to nurturing children.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
