Part-time Food Science Technician

Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week (Some flexibility with start and finish times) (Term-Time Only)

Job Overview

St Edmund's College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Food Science Technician to support the smooth running of our Food Science department. This role involves preparing engaging practical lessons, maintaining a safe and welcoming food room environment, and supporting pupils throughout their learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, materials and equipment for practical lessons
• Assist with demonstrations, displays and College events
• Monitor stock levels and place orders when required
• Maintain clean, hygienic and organised food preparation areas
• Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed
• Help maintain equipment and resources in excellent condition
• Assist with inventories, audits and record keeping
• Contribute to Food Science co-curricular activities

• Highly organised and proactive
• Pride in maintaining a clean and efficient workspace
• Team player with good interpersonal skills with young people
• Good practical food preparation skills
• Understanding of health, safety and hygiene standards
• Capability to work in a regulated activity with children, requiring an enhanced DBS check (including children's barred list)
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Additional Information

The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

You will be required to undergo relevant Safeguarding Checks and provide references that may include questions about past disciplinary actions or behaviour with children.
